“I will sing and make music with all
my soul.” ~ Psalm 108:1
Music is an essential part of worship at WHUMC. Music lifts the soul,
opens our hearts, unites our spirits and enriches our lives. Membership
in all of our music groups is open to anyone who has a love of
expressing praise to God through music.
The Chancel Choir: This choir is open to all adults and provides
music for weekly Worship Services (approximately 46 Sundays a year) and
special services during the year. The music includes traditional,
contemporary, gospel and spirituals. Practices are on Thursday from 7:00
p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Gideon’s Call: Open for any adult or youth who enjoy singing
contemporary music. This group leads 9:00 a.m. Worship Services year
round and occasionally will sing at the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service and
other special services during the year.
Practices are on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Children’s Choir: Our Children’s Choir offers the children a
chance to sing, dance, play handchimes and recorders while exploring
musical and spiritual concepts. It is open to those in kindergarten
through grade five. The children perform occasionally throughout the
year during Worship Services. Practices are on Sunday from 9:20 a.m. -
9:50 a.m. between 9:00 a.m. Worship and Sunday School.

"I
prayed to the LORD, and he answered me,
freeing me from all my fears. Those who look to him
for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame
will darken their faces. I cried out to the LORD
in my suffering, and he heard me. He set me free from all my fears. For the angel of the LORD guards all who fear him, and he rescues them." ~ Psalm 34:4-7
Our Prayer Ministry began several years ago, and WHUMC is dedicated to becoming a prayer-saturated church.
As part of the outreach to the Church, the Prayer Ministry collects and distributes shared prayer requests to prayer teams in the Church. The Ministry also maintains a short list of confidential requests, known to just a few people who pray and are committed to keeping the confidence. Some persons on the teams pray at home, others meet on a weekly or monthly schedule to pray as a group.
The Prayer Ministry also prays for every person in our Church (a few each week), and a card is sent to each family during that family’s week of prayer.
A series of booklets about handling grief is given to members who have experienced a death in the family. Other activities include planning prayer vigils and celebrations during Lent, Easter, and National Day of Prayer.
We are a prayer-driven Church praying for our Church, our Community and our World.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’.” ~ Matthew

This important ministry of WHUMC is made up of caring shepherds who
reach out to every member of our Church family. We are all about
connecting, encouraging, faith-sharing, fellowship, and nurturing for
all at WHUMC. Jesus is our example.
Each family is assigned a shepherd who makes contact on a regular basis.
We make regular visits to those who are unable to attend Church. We
support each member of our Church family in times of need and surround
them with Christian love.
