“Whoever welcomes a child in my name, welcomes Me.”
~ Matthew 18:5
At WHUMC we view children as important members in our Church community and in the kingdom of God. We offer a Christian environment of learning and growth for our children while preparing them to become strong in their faith and increasingly aware of God's love and grace. Our programs are designed to offer each child a place to belong and grow in faith and to be involved in Christian education, worship, mission, music, and fellowship.
Sunday School classes are for children in kindergarten through grade five. Sunday School is a vital and exciting part of our ministry where we teach the children about our Christian faith. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. and ends at 10:45 a.m. every Sunday.
Children’s Worship is offered every Sunday during the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service for children age four through grade five with a focus on the one most important thing in life…a growing relationship with Jesus. When children worship God, amazing things happen. Our children learn about God as they experience God. Children will hear God’s story in fresh, fun and meaningful ways, understand God’s word by doing surprisingly fun stuff, discover the adventure of applying God’s truth to everyday life, build a “forever” relationship with Jesus…the best friend our children could ever have!
Nursery
Mission is a vital part of our Children’s Ministry. We made and
delivered cookies for our local Rescue Mission. We helped “Mission of
Mercy”, a dental mission that assists those who cannot afford dental
services. The children handed out smallbags to our congregation and
asked them to fill the bags with various snack items, coloring books,
markers, crayons, and activity books to be given to the children who
accompany their
parents to the dental clinic. These are just a few of our mission
projects.
Music: Our Children’s Choir offers the children a chance to sing,
dance, play handchimes and recorders while exploring musical and
spiritual concepts. It is open to those in kindergarten through grade
five. The children perform occasionally throughout the year during
Worship Services.
Fellowship: Fun events every month include: First Sunday Night
Live Children’s Program, Bunny Brunch, Lock-In, outdoor hikes, Tea with
Mom and Grandmother, Back to School Party, and many more fun events and
programs.

On October 16th Windsor Hills UMC will participate in the annual National Observance of Children’s Sabbath Weekend sponsored by the Children’s Defense Fund and over 200 religious organizations and denominations. This year’s observance will focus on the education achievement gap that leaves too many children performing below grade level, leading to high drop-out rates. Justice requires equitable and excellent education, especially for the most vulnerable children. In promoting excellent and equitable education, we not only protect children from current injustice but we protect their futures by putting them on the path to a promising adulthood. As people of faith we recognize the sacred responsibility to nurture and protect children and to work for the world God intends. On the Children’s Sabbath, we will reflect on the teachings of our faith that lead us to respond, and we will commit to putting our faith into action to help children learn and succeed.
Please plan to be present on October 16. We will join in this united voice for children by celebrating Children’s Sabbath at both services. All are invited. This will be a good time to invite other families or children to visit.
The next event planned with children in mind is the church wide picnic
in September, which is scheduled for Sept 11th. There will be lots of
food and fun, so look for details to come and invite your friends!
Fantastic World will resume on the first Sunday in October (2nd) with
dinner at 5:00. Join us to find out how our friends save the Fantastic
World from Rainy Day. We’ll also discuss our plans for the rest of 2011.
If you have any questions, please contact any member of the Children’s
Ministry Team: Anne Kidd, Tracey Bennett, Dana Bledsoe, Rene Wolfe, Kris
Stutsman, and Jennifer Schilke.
In our nursery at Windsor Hills, we strive to create a loving, safe, and
welcoming environment for children to worship. The nursery is the place
a child is first introduced to God through the church, therefore making
it essential for the children to have a bible lesson geared toward their
respective ages. With ages ranging from birth thru four, they are being
engaged in many activities. We offer many ways to worship and praise our
Lord including stories, music and dance, crafts, prayer, and ministry.
The nursery is always properly staffed with our nursery director, Tasha
Eaton and a church volunteer for each service. Tasha is CPR and first
aid certified with over 17 years of childcare experience. The nursery is
open 15 minutes before and after services to allow parents a time for
Christian fellowship. We love new faces and we welcome all who wish to
join us!
